Other Platforms
Now that I told you why I use Squarespace and often recommend it to clients, let’s take a look at some of the other top contenders. Because here is the truth, Squarespace isn’t for everyone, your business maybe based on memberships and courses, or maybe you have a high inventory product base shop. It’s great to know your options before you dive in! Let’s look at the pluses and minuses of some of the top platforms.
Showit: Known for their beautiful websites, custom designs and huge variability.
(+) very visually appealing, custom designs
(-) custom designs can be expensive, and can lead to more expenses after the website is built for up keep.
(+) if you are are a word press user with a large blog, showit has the capability to integrate all that hard work.
(-) if you want a shop/membership/email you have to use outside integrations (aka, link to other sites with more monthly fees).
Shopify: The industry leader in online shops
(+) if you are an online business, Shopify is likely your ticket. Tons of features for tracking inventory/orders and more.
(+) simple design, easy to upkeep and edit as needed
(-) simple design, nearly every shopify site has the same layout and same features.
Kajabi: The industry leader, and up and coming standard for memberships and courses.
(+) easy to use and set up courses that your clients fall in love with. Built in features that help you create a course/membership that flows and works hard for you.
(-) super expensive starting at $199/month
(-) need emails/shop? You will need to use outside integrations and websites
Bottom line, while Squarespace checks off a ton of different boxes, and can grow with you, there are other platforms designed for specific purposes and it really comes down to where you are in your business, and where you are hoping to go.
